Casio Pro Trek PRG-650-Serie: Tough Solar mit Triple-Sensor

Der Pro Trek PRG-650 ist ein September-Update für die beliebte PRG-600- Serie. Casio bringt drei Modelle auf den Markt , die PRG-650-1 , PRG-650Y-1 und PRG-650YBE-3 . Wie der PRG-600 ist der PRG-650 Tough Solar-powered, hat eine Edelstahl-Lünette, Triple Sensor (Höhenmesser / Barometer, Kompass, Thermometer) und STN LCD-Display. Der Index hat ein neues Design mit mehr numerischen Indikatoren und es gibt jetzt ein Triple Sensor Logo auf dem Gesicht. Der PRG-650 ist wasserdicht bis 100 Meter und misst 51,6 x 51,5 x 13,4 mm wie der PRG-600. Andere Eigenschaften umfassen Weltzeit (29 Städte + UTC), 1/100 Sekunden Stoppuhr (24 Stunden mit Split), Timer (60 Minuten), 5 Alarme und Doppel-LED-Licht.

Der PRG-650-1 (links) hat eine silberne Einfassung, einen weißen Index, ein Standard-LCD-Display und ein Durasoft-Silikonband. Der PRG-650Y-1 (Mitte) hat eine graue IP-Blende, einen schwarzen Index mit weißen 12- und 6-Uhr-Markierungen, ein LCD-Display auf der Rückseite und ein Durasoft-Silikonband. Sowohl der PRG-650-1 als auch der PRG-650Y-1 haben eine leuchtende innere Schicht auf dem Silikonband, die im Dunkeln leuchtet. Dies ist ein neues Feature, das möglicherweise bei zukünftigen G-Shock-Modellen angezeigt wird. Die innere Schicht des PRG-650-1 ist weiß, während die innere Schicht des PRG-650Y-1 sehr hellblau erscheint. Der PRG-650YBE-3 (rechts) hat eine schwarze IP-Lünette, einen weißen Index, ein LCD-Display auf der Rückseite und wird mit einem Silikonband und einem Stofftarnband geliefert.

Accuracy of quartz watches and automatic watches

The term accuracy of watches is used to indicate the precision of a watch. The accuracy of a quartz watch is much higher than of a mechanical watch. Let’s have a closer look at the accuracy of the different types of watches:
Accuracy of quartz watches:

The clock generator of a quartz watch is an electronic oscillator. It’s frequency is maintained through a crystal oscillator. The higher the frequency of the used clock generator the higher is the accuracy of the watch. Quartz watches with a quartz of common oscillating frequency usually have a deviation of 15 to 30 seconds per month. Since the deviation is adding up over the months also a quartz watch has to be synchronized on a regular basis.
Accuracy of automatic watches:

Automatic watches are mechanical watches whose clockwork spring is winded up automatically through a rotor with every movement of the arm. The rotor that is usually ball bearing mounted stands still during the movement of the watch case because of its inertia and gravity so that a torsional moment is applied on the clockwork mechanism.

The accuracy of automatic watches depends on different factors. First and foremost the carrying method of the owner influences the accuracy of a watch. With very active persons who a wearing the watch during sports an automatic watch movements react differently from those worn of persons who are sitting most of time behind a desk or in the car. Next to the activity of the owner also factors like temperature and atmospheric pressure play a decisive role. Upscale automatic watches have an accuracy of less than +- 6 sec. per day. A “normal” accuracy is between +- 10-30 sec. per day.

In case a watch has a C.O.S.C (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) certificate the watch can be labeled as chronometer. Chronometers are with a accuracy of -4 to +6 seconds per day very precise watches.
